Apple Announces New iPhones

clock September 19, 2013 00:02 by author Jessie

It is that time of year again: Apple announced the much anticipated additions to the iPhone family: The 5C and the 5S. This is =the first time Apple has released two new iPhone models at the same time. Because of the innovative advances of Android, Apple steps up with a double whammy to defend their position in the smart phone market and attract more price-conscious consumers.

No longer will the iPhone be limited to black or white. With a splash of color, the iPhone5C has been rumored to be the “cheaper” iPhone has been priced at $99 for 16GB and $199 for the 32GB model with a two year contract. The phone is offered in yellow, green, blue, white, and pink. Now our phones can be customized to fit our own personality when it comes to style and color. Another great update from the iPhone 5 is the camera features and quality. With a boost in the megapixel department, you will now be able to take clearer, sharper pictures from both cameras. When it comes to speed, not much has changed from the standard iPhone 5, which will be discontinued once the new models hit the market. It is equipped with the same A6 processor as the original iPhone 5, which will make it significantly slower than Apple’s front runner, the 5S.

The iPhone 5S also comes with a more classic, stylish, modern splash of color: gold, silver, and space gray. Along with the 5C, Apple has made significant improvements in the camera, speed, and design on the iPhone 5S. The Apple iPhone 5S runs off of an A7 processor which doubles the speed compared to the last generation of iPhones. The 5S also has a more scientific feature -the thumb print scanner to unlock the phone when trying to be accessed. This is a huge leap in the phone industry! The price for the iPhone 5S hovers around $199 for their 16GB model , $299 for the 32GB, and $399 for the 64GB model.

Apple is a front runner in the smart phone market. Maintaining this lead is a difficult task for Apple, but it’s taking a strong position with the introduction of a handset to address the lower price point in the market. Its biggest competition is with Android, who is also quite innovative. Maintaining position in the market requires the constant evolution of a product or invention of new products, something Apple and Android are constantly striving for.

Rumors and Photos of a New iPhone Casing

clock June 6, 2012 00:57 by author Jeremy

With WWDC 2012 (Apple's premier yearly event) coming up (next week from the 11th through 15th), there's no shortage of rumors about what will come of it. Focusing on Developers and Apps? A new iPhone? Twelve variations of the iPad 6? If we're lucky, some of these rumors are attached to pictures. While they don't necessarily count as proof that the rumor is truth, it does at least stir the pot up a little bit.

And lucky is exactly what we are, since 9to5Mac has managed to acquire a few snapshots of what looks like the latest iPhone casing.

As seen above, there will be both black and white variations. The back casing itself seems metallic, which is new to the iPhone. Near the bottom, there's also a smaller connector port, in contrast to the larger one that Apple currently uses. The audio jack has been relocated to the bottom right, and there is now a small gap between the camera lens and the LED flash.

Along with these cases, 9to5Mac also has a few photos of the screens, backs, and frames. Be sure to check out the source link below for more snapshots.

Apple stays on trail with iPhone 4S, not iPhone 5

clock October 5, 2011 00:24 by author Jeremy

The biggest news to emerge from today's Apple event is, of course, the unveiling of their latest iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 4S. This will come with quite a few new specs, particularly iOS 5. The iPhone 4S itself can be pre-ordered starting Oct 7th and will be available Oct. 14th. Meanwhile, iOS 5 will be released on Oct. 12th. So let's take a look at what we're dealing with, shall we?

The iPhone 4S will have the same retina display and back glass-casing as the iPhone 4, but comes with the brand new A5 chip. This chip is said to be twice as fast as its predecessor and has dual-core graphics. A new battery will provide 8 hours of talk-time, 6 hours of browsing (or 9 if done through WiFi), 10 hours of video and 40 hours of music, all done via the supposed 14.4 Mbps download speeds. And with AirPlay Mirroring, you can view some of these things on a bigger screen, either through a wired or wireless connection.

A new 8 megapixel camera is provided as well, bringing 60% better performance over the iPhone 4; this camera will also take in 73% more light, has 26% better white balance and an IR filter for more accurate colors. Plus, it's faster: a mere 1.1 seconds required to take one picture and only 0.5 seconds to take a second picture.

Perhaps the biggest new feature of the iPhone 4S/iOS 5 is Siri - originally a company that handled a voice recognition app, but was bought out by Apply in early 2010. Finally, Siri is bringing their expertise to the table by becoming Apple's (very intuitive) voice program. Quite a few examples were done at Apple's event today, with various questions/demands being asked: "What time is it in Paris", "Do I need to wear a raincoat today", "Find me a great Greek restaurant in Palo Alto", "Wake me up tomorrow at 6 AM", "Search Wikipedia for...". With each command, Siri either responded in kind or brought up the specific app that would help (such as a web browser with a wiki-page open).

Of course, the iPhone 4S and iOS 5 weren't the only news (granted, they were what everyone was waiting for) - the iPod Nano and iPod Touch both got a few touch-ups and price-alterations today. The iPod Nano, which now has a multi-touch display for app-swiping and 16 new clocks (including a Mickey Mouse clock!), will be available for $129 (8GB) or $149 (16 GB). Meanwhile, the iPod Touch, which now has iMessaging - bringing texts from your Apple devices to your iPod - will be for sale at $199 for 8GB, $299 for 32GB, or $399 for 64GB.

Also fresh off the Cupertino-grill is iTunes Match, the long-awaited music service that works with iTunes. This feature will scan your library, find the corresponding songs in iTunes for you and gives you the same benefits that iTunes-purchased-music would. This will be live at the end of the month.

Definitely an exciting day for Apple loyalists, and an exciting day for Sprint customers too - it was officially announced today at the event that Sprint will be getting the iPhone as well.

Oh, and as if all the news above wasn't enough, here's a last piece of joy for you: the iPhone 4S will now be available in white as well.

Apple Invitations Sent for Oct. 4th: "Let's Talk iPhone"

clock September 27, 2011 23:27 by author Jeremy

Well, the title pretty much says it all...or does it? This may look like just a regular invitation picture, but all around the world, people are clamoring as to what the event will unveil. The past has shown that Apple likes to throw little hints in their invites, so perhaps there's more to these icons than what first glance shows us.

Most people immediately jump to the long-awaited iPhone 5, or possibly even the iPhone 4GS/4S, both of which make sense (the message does read "iPhone" at the bottom, after all). But considering there's only "one missed call", one would think that only one phone is being released.

Meanwhile, emphasis on the word "talk" may indicate voice-recognition services. Roughly 18 months ago, Apple acquired Siri, a start-up  that delivered voice-activated personal-assistance programs. This could be Apple's foray into voice-recognition.

No matter what gets unveiled though, there's no denying that Apple's simple invitation has garnered enough attention to keep folks interested until Oct. 4th.

Apple iPhone 5 Release Date

The release date rumor for the new Apple iPhone 5 is proposed for late September to early October 2011. The iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S are slated to be released at the same time. At the very least, there will be an iPhone 4S released this fall, and the iPhone 5 could be delayed until mid-2012.

There are a lot of rumored upgrades and features to look forward to with the new Apple iPhone 5 cell phone.

  • Curved Glass Display.
  • 8 Mega-Pixel Camera with a Dual-LED Display.
  • A5 Dual-Core Processor.
  • Worldphone Design.
  • 4G LTE iPhone.
  • Voice Recognition.
  • Glasses-free 3D.

The iPhone 4S cell phone will also have a few possible upgrades of its own.

  • Minor cosmetic changes.
  • Better front and rear facing cameras.
  • A5 Dual-Core processor.
  • HSPA+ Support (Not exactly LTE+, but will be established as a 4G cell phone by carries like AT&T).
  • Addition of Sprint, T-Mobile and China mobile carriers.

September / October is coming up fast with the new release for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S cell phone. With many Andorid powered cell phones taking up market share, Apple better come up with something good for the iPhone 5.
