A lot of Windows 7 users have been getting a warning that their battery has a problem when there really is no problem at all. Microsoft says it's a hardware issue and some system firmware may need to be upgraded on the user's end. The computer system's basic BIOS may need a firmware upgrade in order to communicate properly with the Windows 7 OS. Other laptop users upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista have experienced the same problems and also have had charging issues with their laptop batteries.
With Apple dominating the tablet market, Windows has released Windows Embedded Compact 7 to operate specifically for commercial and consumer devices, such as tablets, smart phones, etc.

As each year goes by, we see higher capacity batteries available in smaller sizes, and dual screen laptop setup ready to go by Onkyo! The last cool laptop I saw was the HP Pavilion HDX 20.1 in 1080P LCD screen with a tilt function and fingerprint login, SATA, Firewire USB plugs, Bluetooth and Wireless connections a few years back and I actually bought it to replace my desktop. This new dual screen laptop is a lot cooler than the new small netbooks with tiny LCD screens, and a lot more can be done with two tiny LCD screens! Personally, I think this is a lot cooler than the iPad and a lot more work can be done with a tiny dual screen netbook. We can raise the coolness factor if we go and install or dual boot the OS with Ubuntu.
Dual Screen Laptop Specs: AMD Athlon Neo CPU, 4GB of RAM, 320GB HD, Windows 7 Home Edition, Two 10.2-inch displays and the screens can twist around to be used as a tablet. Battery life is only 3.7 hours Max.

If your laptop battery is a few years old and does not last very long when it is unplugged, then you might be due for a replacement laptop battery. Laptop batteries can usually last between 3-5 years with 300-500 discharge /charge cycles.
Hewlett-Packard has released FAQ information on their lithium-ion batteries and smart battery technology which can be found on their HP battery information page. HP battery life quotes, "Under normal discharge loads, Li-Ion batteries have a life span of between 300 and 500 cycles."
Apple offers a similar FAQ information page on their laptop batteries and their long lasting life span which can be found on the Apple battery information page. Apple battery life quotes, "A properly maintained Apple notebook battery is designed to retain up to 80 percent of its original capacity after 300 full charge and discharge cycles."
Between HP and Apple, a typical battery life for today's laptop should be at least 300 discharge / charge cycles, maintaining at least an 80% capacity for up to 3 years. Mileage will vary from laptop to laptop.
