Hewlett-Packard will be paying out $425,000 to settle hazardous laptop battery claims for not issuing a recall fast enough on hazardous laptop batteries. US Consumer Product Safety Commission charged Hewlett-Packard with knowingly selling laptop batteries that could overheat and possibly catch on fire.

HP’s laptop battery recalls consist of over 32,000 lithium-ion battery packs. If you happened to purchase a HP laptop from 2005 to now, it wouldn’t hurt to check to see if your HP laptop falls in the recall category.
